Eggplant

Eggplant grows rapidly in self-watering plant pots filled with shredded coconut fibre.

Eggplant is another crop which thrives when grown hydroponically. I have grown it both in expanded clay balls and in self-watering pots filled with shredded coconut fibre. It grows very quickly and the plants can become huge.

For best results it is very important to prune and trellis eggplant in the same manner as for tomato plants. Any secondary branches emerging from between the main stem and the leaves should be removed as quickly as possible. The eggplant also need to be supported by twine because without deep roots they will become too top heavy to support themselves.
