Tomato plants trained on a twine trellis with beetroot plants filling in the space around the roots.
Young tomato plants showing the twine trellis that will support them as they grow. |
Tomatoes are grown easily from seed in small containers filled with perlite, or the seedlings can be obtained directly from a garden store. As soon as the seedlings are large enough to handle they should be planted out in benches containing a shallow layer of growth medium. Since the plants grow very tall I have built a special bench for tomatoes which is at ground level.
